Ortega

Ortega

Established in 1994, Ortega Guitars introduced German design to authentic and traditional methods of guitar making. Committed to innovation and quality, the company strives to exceed expectations at every level for all its acoustic instruments. Features such as the 12-hole bridge, often found only on high-end guitars, are standard across Ortega’s entry-level to professional nylon string guitars. Their wide variety of body and neck sizes accommodates players of all ages, enabling everyone to learn and play.

Milestones

Ortega Guitars began as a manufacturer with the aim of producing guitars that are accessible to all. Looking back, several key milestones mark the company's journey from a small German guitar brand to a global corporation with distribution partners worldwide.

Handcrafted Quality in the Spanish Tradition

Ortega’s foundation lies in the crafting of guitars in the Spanish tradition. Today, the company has elevated traditional guitar-making by developing instruments tailored to customer needs, resulting in innovations reflected in every instrument produced. These advancements have been shaped through close attention to customer feedback.

The Family Grows

Over the past 25 years, Ortega has continually expanded its product range. Customers can now choose from a wide selection of stringed instruments, including ukuleles, acoustic basses, mandolins, and banjos. Additionally, smaller guitar models, such as 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 sizes, have been introduced to support young players with small hands.

Signature Artists

Ortega Guitars is proud to have esteemed musicians on its artist roster, including Thomas Zwijsen, Ben Woods, Javier Reyes, and Ken Taylor. These artists co-designed their signature instruments, which they use on every gig and tour.

The Rise of the Ukulele

In 2008, Ortega introduced its first ukulele lineup, which has since expanded to include a wide variety of Sopranino, Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone ukuleles. These instruments feature both traditional and modern designs, reflecting the growing popularity of ukuleles worldwide.

Hands-Free Percussion

To support the singer/songwriter community, Ortega launched its hands-free percussion series in 2016. Digital stompboxes like the HORSE KICK PRO and QUANTUMloop are used by professional musicians across the globe and have become staples on many stages.

KEIKI—Connecting Generations

Since 2019, Ortega has offered affordable, colorful, and uniquely designed ukuleles through its KEIKI range. Named after the Hawaiian word for “the little one,” these instruments bring joy to both young and old, adhering to the philosophy that music connects generations.

Ortega Acoustic Amplification

In 2019, Ortega made its first foray into acoustic amplification with the introduction of the H ONE acoustic amplifier head, along with matching S ONE and S TWO cabinets. The company takes pride in offering a lightweight, innovative package for all gigging situations.

Useful Helpers

Ortega Guitars provides a comprehensive range of tools for maintaining and cleaning instruments. Additionally, musicians can find accessories that inspire creativity, enhance their sound, and support their needs as gigging performers.

Time to Make a Change

Recognizing the importance of environmental sustainability, Ortega Guitars has begun developing eco-friendly products. The first of these is the Atmosphere Green guitar strings, which feature 100% plant-based trebles, reducing reliance on oil-based materials. The production process also cuts carbon emissions by more than 50%, reflecting the company’s commitment to a cleaner, greener planet.
